I started the New Year IN SHOCK, and you?

Many people only start to do things differently and change when they are faced with a shock — for instance an accident, a sudden illness that’s its diagnosed, a death in the family or of a friend, or other event that makes people really reflect deeply and decide — I have to start doing something different!

Almost 12 years ago I was diagnosed a heart attack when doing a regular routine electrocardiogram in the medical office of HP, where I worked at that time. At that moment I said to myself: “You have to kill the numbers, before the numbers kill you!” I was working in a finance role that was very stressful, even so I haven’t noticed any signs that I was to have that shocking experience.

I started to take more care about myself, even so, I kept smoking occasionally and drinking alcoholic drinks for some more years. Only 3 years ago (December 3, 2018) I took a decision to stop smoking, drinking coffee and drinks with alcohol, all at the same time — and yesterday marked 3 years and a month of that decision, and practice. This decision was not driven by any health condition, was a sudden decision in that moment that I kept practicing since then to this day.

On Jan 1, 2022, at about 9 am, I looked down and HAD A SHOCK! The scale was mentioning 76.8 Kgs — the highest number I recall since many years!

As I want to start running more regularly and increasing my capacity to run longer distances, I decided to start immediately doing something different — going back to an intermittent fasting practice and stop eating bread.

While I was not able to stop eating bread yet, the intermittent fasting is happening, and this morning the scale showed 75.7 Kgs, a motivation to keep going forward with the actions needed to make me able to run longer and faster. I know that I may need support or a accountability partners to consolidate the practices that will male me achieve my goals, and when I feel that need, I will contact qualified people to support me.

I hope you have not started this year in shock as I have, if you have, and you want an accountability partner to support you in implementing your New Year Resolutions, or helping you progress towards your goals, contact me.

I am grateful to have a conversation with you to help you have more clarity, take new decisions, and create new actions to consolidate the progress towards your goals.

Wish you an Awesome Year and look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers!
